BUF Ayr announces closure following new 10pm coronavirus curfew rules for pubs and restaurants

One of Ayr's busiest bars says it will close its doors in a bid to come back "stronger and adapted to the new normal".

The BUF in Arthur Street announced tonight that it would shut following the introduction of a 10pm curfew on pubs and restaurants.

Bosses at the late night venue said they were "saddened" to make the move, but said the restrictions would leave them unable to trade.

In a statement, they said: "We are saddened to let our customers know that due to yesterday's announcement that licensed premises must shut at 10pm from this weekend we are having to close our doors.

"We are presently a late night venue and unfortunately the restrictions put in place regarding closing times and households means we are unable to trade.

"We don't know exactly how long we will shut for but we will use the time to reconfigure our business and come back stronger & adapted to the 'new normal'.

"We would like to thank all our customers for their support over the last 3 months. Over to you Rishi.."

The company has said it will be "business as usual" at its popular venue in Prestwick Main Street, which operates throughout the day serving food and drink.
