MPs will deliver their final verdict on Rishi Sunak’s new Brexit deal next week after Downing Street confirmed a vote on the Windsor Framework will be held on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister announced the deal designed to resolve problems with the Northern Ireland Protocol at the end of February and MPs will have had more than three weeks to consider it by the time they vote.

The DUP and the European Research Group of Tory Brexiteer MPs are yet to arrive at a final opinion on the deal but No10 is pushing ahead regardless.

The vote will technically be on the specific issue of the Stormont Brake which would enable the Northern Ireland Assembly to stop the roll out of new EU laws in Northern Ireland in certain circumstances.

But Downing Street has made clear the vote will be treated as the moment at which the PM fulfills his pledge to give MPs a say on the overall deal.

The Prime Minister’s Official Spokesman said: "We said Parliament would have its say on the framework. This vote honours the Prime Minister’s commitment to provide MPs with the opportunity to vote on the new arrangements."

The deal is expected to clear the Commons with ease even if there is opposition from the DUP and Tory Brexiteers because Labour has said it will support the agreement.
