Budget £24 fan in Amazon Prime Day sale is 'godsend' and has shoppers 'ditching Dyson'

As even places like Scotland get hit by heatwave after heatwave, cooling down without air con can feel impossible.

Even when we're not in the midst of a hot spell, these humid summer days can take the air out of a room. And while air con at home is a distant dream for many of us, a good fan can work miracles.

The Honeywell TurboForce Power Fan is one such gadget that has shoppers "ditching their Dyson fans". Fortunately, it's been reduced to £24 down from £29 in an Amazon Prime Day early deal.

One journalist recently tested out the 4.5 star fan, called it a "godsend" for its deceptively powerful motor.

Bethan Shufflebotham of The Mirror tested out the Honeywell fan to see what the fuss is about.

She wrote: "No more than 30cm tall or wide, this compact fan is deceptively powerful, and has had shoppers ditching their Dysons in favour of the budget-friendly fan."

"And while I have never tried out a Dyson fan, I don’t think I’ve any need to, because this Honeywell device does a fantastic job at keeping me cool while working from home in the summer months, and works even better at circulating air than the £20 tower fan I picked up in Aldi last summer."

The fan's easy setup, sleek design, and its strong but quiet motor all earned it top marks.

"The fan comes fully assembled in the box, meaning set up is a total breeze - pardon the pun," Bethan continued. "The circular fan sits on a U-shaped stand, which allows it to tilt up to 90 degrees to get the perfect angle, and has a cable of around three metres long so it can be optimally placed."

The minimal design won't clash with your furniture as Bethan notes its sleek design will "quite literally become part of the furniture".

There are three speed settings and she notes the lowest one doesn't get in the way of important day-to-day activities.

"Even the lowest has been more than sufficient for me in recent weeks. What’s more is that the slowest speed is near-silent, meaning that it’s ideal when I’m taking work calls in the day, doesn’t distract from watching films or catching up on Love Island at night, and can be used overnight while not disturbing me from my slumber."

The lightweight fan can be moved with you from room to room but for the price - and energy efficiency compared to an air conditioning unit - Bethan says it's worth getting two to have across your home.

If you need to kick it up a notch, the next setting up works just fine without irritating your ears.

Bethan writes: "The medium speed setting has a moderate hum, kicking out more of a draft, but still, there’s no need to reach for the volume button on the TV remote. The highest setting is louder than the rest, but no louder than other fans we’ve used over the years, and it’s more than worth it for the power. You can feel the fan from up to seven metres away, making it perfect for living rooms and master bedrooms, as well as smaller spaces."

As for the highest setting, she notes: "We’ve not needed to use the highest setting thus far - it’s very strong and perhaps verging on overkill, but I’m sure in the middle of August we may end up cranking it up and being incredibly thankful for it.

|We’ve had ours mostly on the floor by the TV pointing towards the sofa, which keeps us all cool while working or winding down in the evening, circulating cool air effectively around the room."

It's not just Bethan who's been impressed by the small but mighty fan - Amazon shoppers have left it thousands of five star reviews.

One person said: “Forget your Dyson bladeless. This little fan is better. So powerful for its size. No brainier just buy it. Send it back if you don’t agree, you won’t by the way.”

Another wrote: “Extremely quiet, even on full power. Very strong breeze, a lot better than my Dyson hot and cold fan. Cannot fault this.”

With a third commenting: “Needed a fan as I was absolutely melting this summer. Didn't think this fan would be up to much given its size and price point but I decided to trust its good reviews and give it a go. This fan is an absolute powerhouse. Not a clue as to how it can be so powerful for its size but fair play to Honeywell it's easily at least 10 times more powerful than the Dyson fan (really bad purchase) we also have.”

However, one didn’t like the design of the settings switch, a point Bethan agreed with. They said: “It's a decent enough fan in terms of airflow. The main problem is the switch is in an awkward spot to turn on and off. It also, unfathomably, turns from 0-III-II-I, ie. off, full blast, medium, low. Why it was designed like this I have no idea.”

It's a minor inconvenience for such a nifty gadget, and one I’m more than willing to look past for this sleek summer must-have. You can shop the Honeywell TurboForce Power Fan for £24 on Amazon here.
