Budget 2023: Here's a full list of the cash boosts coming in before Christmas

Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe unveiled the Government's cost of living Budget on Tuesday which saw an increase in welfare payments, cuts to childcare costs, and three energy credits - among many other things.

The government had promised the public that a vast array of measures were on the way to help households cope with the rise in the cost of living as everything from groceries to bills and services continue to skyrocket in price.

The list of new measures announced will be coming in before the end of 2022 and will continue into 2023 to help with targeted concerns.

We have lined up a full list of what you can expect to see in the run-up to Christmas with tax credits, social welfare bonuses, and more on the way.

From today

From today, Wednesday, September 28, smokers will have to fork out an additional 50c for a 20-pack of cigarettes.

The cost of petrol and diesel will not increase by much more as Minister Donohoe confirmed the excise on petrol and diesel will remain cut until February 2023.

Finally, from today a €500 tax credit will be available to renters for monthly fees paid in 2022.

October

In October, the government opted to introduce a Halloween double social welfare bonus for all of those in receipt of core payment schemes.

The increased Carbon tax kicks in that month too, however, this will be offset by the abolishment of the NORA levy.

Students in third-level education will also see a €1,000 contribution reduction in October.

November

November brings the most change for Irish pockets ahead of 2023 according to the Budget, with a number of social welfare boosts coming ahead of the Christmas season.

Those in receipt of the Child Benefit scheme will see their payments doubled to the tune of €140 per child.

The first €200 energy credit will be given out to all households in a bid to cushion one of the most common concerns among the public - household bills.

A €500 boost will be given to those on the following payments - Working families, Carers, Disability, and blind person - as a once-off.

Similarly, those who are getting the Living Alone Allowance will be given a once-off €200 boost.

Students with received double their grant payment and households will be handed a €400 fuel allowance lump sum.

December

Heading into December, the final Budget benefit arriving is a second Social Welfare double bonus, which will be given to all core welfare recipients.
