Bucknell guard Jimmy Sotos to transfer to Ohio State

Well, that was fast. The wholesale changes on the Ohio State basketball roster continue with the announcement of Bucknell guard Jimmy Sotos’ decision to transfer to the Buckeyes.

The news comes just a day after the shocking revelation that starting guard Luther Muhammad will enter the transfer portal and leave Ohio State. Add that to D.J. Carton’s decision to also transfer, Alonzo Gaffney’s announcement to go pro, and Kaleb Wesson declaring for the NBA draft, and all of a sudden this team is going to look entirely different next season.

But back to Sotos. He’s a veteran ball-handler that will have to more than likely sit out a year because of the NCAA’s undergraduate transfer rules. Depending on how things go though, sources have told Eleven Warriors that the coaching staff could look to explore getting a waiver to make the six-foot, three-inch point guard immediately eligible.

At Bucknell last season, Sotos led the Bison in points (11.5) and assists (3.9) and averaged 32.1 minutes per game. He shot 40.6 percent from the field, including 37.1 percent from beyond the arc.

Sotos will have one year of eligibility remaining and chose Ohio State over Butler, Gonzaga, Minnesota, Missouri, Vanderbilt, and Xavier.
