Buckingham Palace Says Prince Philip Hip Surgery Was a Success

Buckingham Palace said on Wednesday that Britain’s Prince Philip, 96, the husband of Queen Elizabeth, has undergone a successful hip surgery.

A spokesperson to the palace said that the Duke of Edinburgh, was admitted to the King Edward VII Hospital in London for a hip surgery.

According to Reuters, Philip retired from public life last August, although he has attended many official occasions.

In June last year, the Duke of Edinburgh left the hospital after he was treated for an infection which forced him to miss a royal event.

He did not accompany Elizabeth to a church service on Maundy Thursday because of the hip problem, a royal source said last week. Philip also missed the Easter Sunday service at Windsor castle.

It is worth mentioning that Prince Philip had retired from his duties last summer, and since then, he was rarely seen with the queen in her public duties.
