A royal police officer who sent “highly sexualised” texts to a teenage girl after demanding her mobile number while on duty at Buckingham Palace has been sacked.

Scotland Yard said specialist protection officer Pc Andrew Daly has been dismissed without notice after a tribunal found him guilty of gross misconduct.

The married officer sent the 16-year-old girl “highly sexualised and abusive” text messages, including one asking if she was a virgin, a hearing was told.

Daly, who did not attend, admitted taking the number of the girl in May 2016 and sending her “disrespectful” text messages.

Although the officer said he did not know how young she was, the panel found yesterday that he “clearly knew she was very young”.

The woman, who is now over 18, told the hearing in west London that the messages left her feeling “disgusted” and “quite violated”.

Tribunal chairman Akbar Khan said that despite Daly’s long and unblemished record of service, the panel had no option but to recommend his dismissal without notice.
