The Hamilton branch of Guide Dogs Scotland were delighted to receive a £15,000 cash boost from the makers of Buckfast.
J Chandler and Co Ltd donated the generous amount to enable the charity to provide life-changing mobility services to people living in our community with sight loss.
Stewart Wilson presented the cheque to guide dog owner Laura Bradley last week at the charity’s base in Hamilton.
Business development manager Kyla McVicar said: “We’re really grateful for the donation. There are currently over 10,000 people living with sight loss in South Lanarkshire.
“This £15,000 is a major contribution to our mobility services and we are delighted to have been chosen among the company’s charitable beneficiaries.
“Every penny will help another person who is blind or partially-sighted get out and about and do the things many of us take for granted.”
Presenting the cheque, Mr Wilson said: “We are pleased to support Guide Dogs with the sum of £15,000. The cost involved in providing Guide Dogs’ mobility services are very high and the charity rely on donations from the public to provide them.
“We are delighted to support Guide dogs in their mission to help more blind and partially-sighted people achieve greater mobility and independence.”
The charity exists to provide life-changing services to the 360,000 people who are registered blind or partially-sighted, and the two million people in the UK living with sight loss. They provide a range of services to help thousands of people with different needs lead independent and fulfilling lives.
