The Ohio State football family is grieving the loss of former 2002 national champion starter, offensive tackle Ivan Douglas, who was just 41 years old.
Douglas was a member of the 1999 recruiting class but struggled with blood clots early in his career. He got healthy enough to make a run as a starter on the 2002 national title-winning squad, but then had his career cut short once again by blood clots.
The news of Douglas’ passing came by way of former OSU teammate, Chukwuemeka Onyejekwe’s Twitter account, who also happens to go by his rapper stage name of Mekka Don. According to the tweet, Douglas’ passing came due to complications from COVID-19.
