Buckeye baseball team takes down Maryland to clinch three-game series

It’s another series win for the Ohio State baseball team, who is starting to string together the wins necessary to get into postseason play. After a dramatic comeback win in the night cap of a double-header Saturday night, the Buckeyes used less drama Sunday in winning 5-1 over the Maryland Terrapins.

The win clinched the three-game series over the home-standing Terrapins.

At the plate, Dominic Canzone continued to be on a tear, extending his streak of reaching base safely to 36-straight games and added to his hit-streak to twelve-straight. Canzone added two doubles and an RBI.

On the hill, the Buckeyes were able to shut down the Terrapins attack — allowing just one run on just four hits. Starting pitcher Griffan Smith went the entire distance striking out ten and walking just two.

With the win, the Buckeyes improve their overall record to 23-18, and a record of 6-6 in the Big Ten.

Ohio State next takes on Iowa Friday night at Bill Davis Stadium.
