Buckeye baseball team loses finale against Hawaii

At the end of the day, three out of four ain’t too shabby.

The Ohio State baseball team was going for a four game sweep at home against Hawaii Sunday, but fell way short today 15-3, as the Rainbow Warriors took out some aggressions after dropping the first three.

Things started out innocent enough with Hawaii going down in order in the top of the first, and Ohio State adding a run in the bottom when Matt Carpenter singled home Dominic Canzone for a 1-0 lead after one.

Then the floodgates opened with the Hawaii bats doing a ton of damage. The Rainbow Warriors added four runs in the top of the second, two more in the third, four in the fourth, and five more through the rest of the game.

All told, Hawaii pounded out eighteen hits — making Ohio State utilize five pitchers. Buckeye right handed pitcher Will Pfenning (0-2) took the loss, giving up four runs on four hits (two earned), with two walks and one strikeout in two innings of work.

With the loss, Ohio State drops its record to 13-11 and will finish its homestand Monday against Toledo at 6:35 PM.
