Buck's Bar to open first south side restaurant in place of family-run Sapori d‘Italia

The south side is set to say goodbye to a much-loved family restaurant but hello to the third opening from one of Glasgow's most popular bars.

Sapori d‘Italia has announced that it will be closing its doors for the final time after a decade in business.

The Sapori family opened the restaurant on Cathcart Road back in 2011 but have now decided to move on to focus on their kids.

Posting on social media, they thanked the Mount Florida community for their support.

Writing: "(They) have been 10 successful years, complicated and satisfying at the same time. Sapori d ‘Italia ends today...it’s time to move on, our family and our kids need us.

"A special thank you to all of you for your support and helping to reach our achievement. Maybe see you again in the future….Mount Florida is a great spot and a lovely community."

Hot off the announcement of the closure, the new occupant has also been announced.

Buck's Bar will be moving into the space by January 2022, the owner announced.

The company will be launching its third restaurant in the south side following on from the success of their West Regent Street and Trongate offerings.

Good luck to all involved!
