Buchlyvie man found guilty of carrying out sex assault on woman

A Buchlyvie man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a female health worker.

Michael Scobbie, of Fisher Place, had carried out the assault on the woman on August 21 last year.

The 32-year-old had communicated indecently with the woman and sexually assaulted her by touching her over and under her clothing as well as making sexual remarks.

Following a summary trial at Stirling Sheriff Court last month, Sheriff Keith O’Mahony found Scobbie guilty on a charge contrary to the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009.

At the outset of the trial Scobbie had pleaded guilty to further charges of assaulting the woman, in course of a journey from Buchlyvie to Forth Valley Royal Hospital, and behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.

He had punched the woman on the head to her injury and shouted, swore and uttered threats.

When Scobbie appeared for sentence at Stirling Sheriff Court on Wednesday his agent Virgil Crawford told Sheriff O’Mahony that a report previously requested was not available through no fault of his client.

Sheriff O’Mahony deferred sentence for the report until December 8. Bail was continued meantime.
