Three, Two, One … buckle up as we blast off into the season of giving and new year with astronomical experiences at SO Sofitel Bangkok. Gather your co-pilots and join the "SO Galactic Odyssey" festive program 2018 with Bûche de Noël yule log cake.
Dating back to the 6th century, the tradition of yule logs began with the burning of freshly-cut wood when families would come together for a festive gathering over the Christmas holiday. Centuries later, Parisian bakers (boulangerie) revived this custom in the form of log cakes, a tradition Sofitel has carried into the 21st century.
At the heart of the SO Sofitel Bangkok, Bûche de Noël 2018 is an indulgent blend of Thai and French culinary inspirations – coconut financier, crunchy ginger bread and praline ice cream with orange pistachio chocolate bar. This year our talented chefs created "Bûche de Noël" were inspired by "Thaicom" -- the name of a series of Thai communications satellites. The satellite projects were named by the King Rama IX, as a symbol of the linkage between Thailand and modern communications technology. A satellite journeys around the world that links different places across the globe.
When the satellite yule log cake blasts off to the space, it was getting cold. Inside the cake became ice cream, while outside turned into ice crystals. The body of the satellite was made of praline ice cream mixed with crunchy ginger bread and French sponge vanilla cake. It was covered with coconut financier while the solar array was made by orange pistachio chocolate bar.
SO Sofitel Bangkok's Bûche de Noël 2018 will be available at Chocolab from 1 December 2018 until 1st January 2019. Guests can also have a delicious astronomical cheer all December long for B2,900++ with 3-day advance reservation directly with our Chocolab team.
