Buchanan Galleries has unveiled a stunning balloon installation to celebrate 20 years of trading at the top of Scotland’s Style Mile.
More than 30 staff members were on hand to kick off the 20th anniversary celebrations - among 128 workers celebrating 20 years of service at Buchanan Galleries since it opened its doors on March 31st 1999.
It wouldn’t be a birthday party without balloons, and the eye-catching display - consisting of over 5,000 assorted balloons - cascades from the ceiling of the centre to the floors below, providing the most unique selfie location in Glasgow.

Throughout the weekend, the shopping centre will be hosting its very own special birthday celebrations, with live music, events and store discounts. There will also be free parking for customers who spend over £20 in the centre on Saturday 30 or Sunday 31 March.
Kathy Murdoch, centre manager at Buchanan Galleries, said: “Buchanan Galleries has been at the forefront of retail here within Glasgow for the past 20 years and has become a household name both in Scotland and further afield having welcomed over 250 million customers through the doors since opening.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone to the centre not only for this weekend’s celebrations, but for many more years to come.”
Throughout Saturday and Sunday shoppers will be treated to live music from the ARTA String Quartet, Rock Choir, GAMTA, Cairn Quartet and singers, Katie O'Farrell and Ellie McConnachie.

Live demos and style events will take place throughout John Lewis, along with tastings at Lakeland and Thorntons. For those who like to celebrate with a little fizz, Boux Avenue will also be offering a complimentary glass and Scotland’s only LEGO store will be offering kids the chance to build their very own LEGO birthday cake.
The centre will also be giving out retro sweets (while stocks last) over the weekend, and are also giving customers the chance to win a £500 Buchanan Galleries Gift Card by sharing pics of their 90’s fashion looks on their Facebook page. See www.facebook.com/BuchGalleries for details.
