Buccaneers pass over Saints coach Ronald Curry for offensive coordinator job

This is interesting: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are hiring former Seattle Seahawks quarterbacks coach Dave Canales as their new offensive coordinator, having previously interviewed New Orleans Saints assistant Ronald Curry for the job under head coach Todd Bowles.

While it’s likely Curry could return for the 2023 season as Saints quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator, there’s also a chance he could leave for Sean Payton’s Denver Broncos staff given the interest expressed in him so far. We aren’t out of the woods yet.

Curry is a name on the rise in coaching circles, known for his wide knowledge of different offensive systems and ease of communication with his players. Losing him would be a tough blow. Even if the Saints quarterbacks and passing attack didn’t meet expectations last year, his fresh perspective is worth investing in. We’ll know soon whether he’s pursuing a new opportunity or staying in New Orleans for another season.
