Buccaneers and Dolphins officially set for two joint practices

Mark your calendars, Dolphins fans. The Miami Dolphins will be traveling north in August ahead of their second preseason game. The purpose? The team is officially holding two joint practices with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on August 13th and 14th.

The pairing of squads will provide a handful of interesting reunions — one for each side. There is of course the return of Ryan Fitzpatrick to the Tampa area, less than one year after he briefly stole Jameis Winston’s starting gig. The Bucs came out hot in 2018 under the guidance of Fitzpatrick, torching both then defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and NFC powerhouse New Orleans Saints.

But Fitzpatrick’s start fizzled, the turnovers took over and it was back to the bench for the man they call “Fitzmagic”.

On the other side? The Dolphins will become reacquainted with star defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, who signed with Tampa last month and is on his third team in 18 months. Suh’s career with the Dolphins somewhat mirrored that red-hot start from Fitzpatrick — it was thrilling at first. But the play of Suh on the field struggled to meet the lofty expectations his financial situation put on the team and Miami ultimately cut Suh in a cost-cutting measure.

The two teams’ joint practices will both be open to the public, so mark your calendars and put in your vacation time now.
