BTS are making a comeback in May with their new English-language single, “Butter”, the group have announced.

On Monday night (26 April), the South Korean pop band surprised fans with a livestream countdown to the news, which was viewed more than 800,000 times.

A press release announced that “Butter” is a “dance-pop track brimming with the smooth yet charismatic charm of BTS.”

The track has a short teaser that has a little yellow heart-shaped block of butter melting with a sound of bubbles playing in the background.

This will be the group’s second English language song after 2020’s hit “Dynamite”.

BTS fans, know as the ARMY, were thrilled by the news.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “Watching Butter melt has never been so rewarding. Who’s ready for new music from BTS?”

“All I need is some bread, with lots of BTS Butter,” wrote another fan.

This year, BTS became the first Korean pop group to be nominated at the Grammy Awards, for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

They also performed at the ceremony for the second time.

“Butter” is out on 21 May.
