South Korean K-pop sensation BTS needs no introduction. The boyband who has a strong fan base all over the world including India, has now received a special mention in the English question paper for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 9 exam.
The question about BTS was a part of the English paper’s comprehensive passage that highlighted BTS and its popularity. It came to notice after a student took to Twitter and shared, “Today was my English exam and I got comprehension on BTS.”
The comprehensive passage read, “How did Korean pop music become a worldwide sensation” and went on to add how K-Pop groups including BTS are becoming popular worldwide with their ‘good-looking, stylish teenagers or 20-somethings, released catchy tunes along with videos highlighting complex, cool, and sophisticated dance moves’.
"But while many Korean bands have become popular worldwide, BTS is the top K-Pop phenomenon. Over the last decade, BTS has sold millions of albums and racked up billions of YouTube views and Spotify streams. In addition, they've become one of South Korea's biggest exports- bringing the equivalent of billions of US dollars to the nation," read another paragraph of the passage with a mention of BTS fans aka ARMY in the context.
As soon as the picture of the exam paper was shared on Twitter, ARMY flooded the micro-blogging site with reactions hoping to have questions on BTS in their examinations soon.
One Indian fan wrote, “Hamare yaha q aise teachers nai hai (Why don't we get such teachers?) Like seriously, I would have score 100% .mai to us question paper ko frame karke rakhugi (I would have framed the question paper).”
