Beloved Korean pop band BTS _ and their fans _ are putting their money where their mouth is.
No sooner had the K-pop kings tweeted their solidarity with Black Lives Matter, than they donated $1 million to the movement. And then BTS fans, who call themselves the Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth (ARMY), immediately jumped on board with a fundraiser of their own.
The fan group surpassed its $1 million goal by Sunday night, reported Variety. They are tracking donations via the hashtag Match A Million.
BTS and Big Hit Entertainment transferred the group's donation last week, with the money confirmed by Black Lives Matter on Friday.
"Black people all over the world are in pain at this moment from the trauma of centuries of oppression," Black Lives Matter managing director Kailee Scales told Variety. "We are moved by the generosity of BTS and allies all over the world who stand in solidarity in the fight for Black lives."
Neither BTS nor Big Hit would comment.
This came just days after K-pop stans, as the genre's fans are known, used social media to disrupt the hashtag White Lives Matter, and inundated requests from various police departments that had asked the public to submit videos of people conducting illegal protest activity.
