BTO Solicitors announce new senior promotions

Independent Scottish law firm BTO Solicitors has announced a number of senior promotions following on from the recent appointment of a new chairman and chief operating officer.

BTO, with offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh, has promoted two associates to partner level, 15 people have stepped up to become senior associates and a further two senior solicitors are now associates.

A few weeks ago the firm named David Gibson as its new chairman to replace Alan Borthwick and appointed David Walker as its first chief operating officer under a new management structure.

BTO Solicitors in groundbreaking appointment 

Lynn Richmond and Lynne Cardow have both been appointed as partners, bringing the firm’s total partner headcount to 47. 

Richmond is based in Edinburgh and specialises in intellectual property and technology, data rotection and online reputation.  Cardow, who handles professional liability claims on behalf of solicitors, accountants, brokers, construction professionals and others, is based in BTO’s Glasgow office.

Lawyers promoted to senior associate level represent a range of practice areas.  In BTO’s Glasgow office, these include: Audrey Blair (residential property), Marjory Blair and Denise Laverty (families and individuals), Marion Davis (corporate, social Housing and charities), Joanne Farrell and Jennifer Stewart (personal injury claims), Lesley Gray, Marieclaire Reid and Donnie Robertson (real estate), Mark McCluskie (insurance disputes), Kirsteen MacLean (commercial dispute resolution and insolvency), Andrew Phillips (health & safety and crime) and Douglas Strang (employment).

 

In Edinburgh, new senior associates include Elaine Del Valle (residential property) and Karen Stachura (professional liability).

Emma Barclay (corporate) in Glasgow and Debbie Reekie (families and individuals) in Edinburgh have both moved up to associate level.

The firm currently has 45 partners, four consultants, a further 75 solicitors and total staff of 255.
