BT Sport warn Rangers they won't be dictated to as broadcast giants issue defiant Chris Sutton statement

BT Sport insist they won’t allow Rangers to pick and choose their pundits after Chris Sutton was denied entry into Ibrox Stadium.

The broadcast giants have set up a studio at an empty Celtic Park to cover the Old Firm in Europa League action.

And that is despite the Light Blues being at home and the Hoops in Germany for their clash against Bayer Leverkusen.

It comes after Record Sport columnist Sutton was again refused entry to the Govan ground with the same thing having happened for Gers clash with Lyon when BT Sport had to make an eleventh hour change of plan.

And instead of splitting their team up and setting up two studios they have decided to host both games from the east end of Glasgow.

That means the Rangers game will also be covered by the panel from an empty Parkhead despite a full house at Ibrox Stadium for Giovanni van Bronckhorst ’s first game in charge of the Scottish champions.

Host Darrell Currie read out a prepared statement from the broadcast giants from the BT Sport studio inside an empty Celtic Park as he introduced Sutton as the "elephant in the room".

He said: “We have a presentation team who reflect all angles and experiences in Scottish football but who were not all provided with the necessary accreditation at Ibrox today.

“We will not be forced to split a team behind and in front of screen. The only way to provide viewers with the continuity of coverage across tonight’s two matches - featuring Celtic and Rangers - was to set up a studio elsewhere.”

Currie added: “We decided with Celtic playing first that we would come to Celtic Park and joining us for this one is Chris Sutton and Stilian Petrov.”
