BT Sport pundits Joe Cole and Peter Crouch have been waxing lyrical over Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.
Mount impressed for the Blues on Tuesday night, providing a wonderful assist in Chelsea's 2-1 win over Rennes, Frank Lampard's men booking their qualification for the knockout stage and making it 13 games unbeaten in the process.
The young midfielder stole the ball deep in his own half before playing a perfect long ball to put Callum Hudson-Odoi through on goal.
After the game, Mount attracted plenty of praise from pundits, including former Chelsea playmaker Cole, who dubbed the 21-year-old as a "manager's dream".
“He’s a manager’s dream. He’s in that bracket when he gets on the pitch and he gets on with it, he does what’s required in the moment," he said on BT Sport.
"He’s everywhere on the pitch, but on top of that, he’s a genius as well - he can make something happen, he can score a goal, make a pass, he’s so down to earth.
"He makes that (assist vs Newcastle) look easy, but he’s fizzed that into an area where Fernandez has no option but to put it in his own goal. He does the right thing with the football at all times, he’s well-schooled, he’s a great lad.
"He’s a mainstay now for Chelsea and England, for me.”
Former Liverpool and England frontman Crouch joined in the praise, adding: “With the attitude that he has, he’s one of those players that has so much natural ability, and a lot of the time you don’t see the defensive side of your game when you play like that, but he’s got that as well.
"He’s tenacious, he wants to work hard, he wants to win the ball from the front and he still has that ability to unlock defences. He is a manager’s dream.”
