BT Sport pundit makes worrying Tottenham prediction after Champions League win over Man City

Chris Sutton believes that Harry Kane could have suffered "ligament damage" during Tottenham Hotspur's Champions League tie with Manchester City.

Kane limped off straight down the tunnel after being caught on the ankle by City's Fabian Delph

Lucas Moura replaced the England skipper with Son Heung-Min scoring the only goal as Spurs take a one-goal advantage to the Etihad Stadium next week.

Kane has already been out for several weeks this season due to an ankle ligament injury and Sutton is concerned that it could be the same injury this time around.

“That is a massive blow for Spurs - to lose their king, their main man,” Sutton said on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“It's the way he lands on his left foot.

“He makes the challenge and then his ankle rocks, which would suggest ligament damage.”

Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who saved a first-half penalty from Sergio Aguero, commented on the injury following the game to BT Sport.

He said: "Hopefully it’s not too bad. I don’t know.

"But you know the feeling when one of your best players - or maybe your best - is going out of the field. We didn’t know what happened but we stayed strong.

"Lucas came on in a very strong way and he brought fresh energy and he helped to finish the game in the right way."

Sadly for Spurs fans, Mauricio Pochettino was far closer to Sutton's view in his estimation of the injury than Lloris'.

He told reporters after the game: "The news is that if you see the action, it’s an action that maybe he twisted his ankle and it can maybe damage the ligaments.

"We need to check in the next few days. It’ so painful, but it’s impossible now to know.

"We can only look forward and hope it’s not a big issue and that he recovers as soon as possible, but it doesn’t look good."
