Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has hailed Chelsea transfer target Jadon Sancho as the “best young player in the world.”
The England international has been in fine form for Borussia Dortmund this season, with the 19-year-old strongly linked with a return to the Premier League amid interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.
Premier League leaders Liverpool have also been linked with Sancho, who has scored 18 goals in 36 appearances for club and country so far this season.
He impressed as Dortmund claimed a 2-1 win against Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday night, although his team-mate Erling Haaland claimed the headlines with his brace in the game.
However, Hargreaves has made a bold claim about Sancho after seeing his development over recent seasons at Dortmund.
“The confidence with which Jadon Sancho plays at 19 years old is absolutely breathtaking,” Hargreaves said, speaking on BT Sport’s Champions League highlights programme.
“Almost everything runs through him and the partnership with [Achraf] Hakimi down the right hand side, they are almost unplayable.
“One v one he is almost unplayable, and his goals and assists are off the charts.
“He played like Neymar, and that is what he has got, that unpredictability, it was an outstanding display from probably the best young player in the world.”
And Hargreaves had a message for the interested parties over any potential move for Sancho this summer.
“They have all got money. He is worth the money,” he said.
“Whatever he is going to cost, you will have him for five, six, maybe ten years. Pay the money, that kid is special.”
