BT Sport apologise after Conor McGregor swears live on air after UFC 246 win

BT Sport were forced to apologise to viewers after Conor McGregor appeared to use the 'F word' following his victory over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246.

The Irishman made light work of his opponent, defeating 'Cowboy' after just 40 seconds in arguably one of the best performances of his career.

In his interview post-fight McGregor could be heard using an expletive, and a message flashed up on the screen for BT customers which read: "We apologise for any offensive language you may have heard."

McGregor was asked about UFC BMF champion Jorge Masvidal wearing ‘his’ Versace robe at ringside, and he replied: "I don’t know what that was all about. It looked ridiculous to me.

"Was it my actual robe? It was the same black one I had. It was ridiculous, I don’t know what that was about. That’s a bit weird."

When asked about a potential fight with Masvidal, he then continued: "Yeah no problem. We can do that. Was he trying to get my attention, is that what he was trying to do?

"What underwear was he wearing? Do you know what I mean? What kind of weird is is that, you know what I mean?"

"I don’t know what the f*** that means. It’s a bleeding’ house coat. The grannies in Ireland wear house coats watching the soaps. Me nanny wears that. So what the hell was that about? But OK."

BT then proceeded to play the noise of fans cheering over McGregor when he was speaking, in case he swore again.

It is unlikely McGregor will be particularly concerned about his conduct, with The Notorious visibly emotional following his victory in his first fight since his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018.

Speaking about his performance and his opponent, McGregor said: "The amount of records that man has, but one of the records he holds (is) the most head-kick knockouts. I'm so happy to be able to get him down with a head kick myself. So I'm very happy and proud tonight.

"The UFC, they can strip fighters and give to other fighters make-believe belts in order to replicate my champ-champ status. But they can't give knockout victories across multiple weight divisions, so there you go again. Etch my name in history one more time."
