BSP chief Mayawati to launch series of hybrid rallies on February 2

LUCKNOW: Putting to rest all speculations about her absence from ground campaigning for the upcoming state assembly election, BSP chief Mayawati will be embarking on a hectic schedule from Wednesday, addressing as many as eight hybrid rallies before mid-February.

After speaking at this year’s maiden election rally in Agra on February 2, Mayawati will set out on a whirlwind tour of not just Uttar Pradesh but also the election-bound states of Punjab and Uttarakhand.

From Agra, she will move on to Ghaziabad on February 3, Amroha on February 4, Saharanpur on February 5, Aligarh on February 6 and Bareilly on February 7.

After winding up the west UP circuit, she is scheduled to travel to Punjab on February 8 where she will address a rally in Jalandhar. On February 10, Mayawati is set to speak at a rally in Haridwar.

Party sources said that the speeches will be shown live in all the divisions where Mayawati is addressing the specific rally. “The candidates will ensure that LED screens are set up in the specific division where Behenji is addressing a rally on that day. Other than this, links to the rallies will be put up on party MP SC Mishra’s Facebook page and will be available on Twitter handles of senior party members and office bearers,” he said.

Now, since up to 1,000 persons are allowed in rallies and 500 persons in closed spaces, the party is confident that the party chief’s addresses will reach a large number of supporters, many having waited for weeks to hear her speak.

After finishing her campaign in west UP, Mayawati will move on to the central divisions. Sources said that while dates are yet to be finalised, she is expected to address two rallies in Lucknow division, including one in Lucknow itself, where she will cover Unnao and Rae Bareli as well. A rally is being planned in Sitapur to cover Lakhimpur, Hardoi and Sitapur divisions, one in Jaunpur, another in Prayagraj, one in Gorakhpur and another one in either Azamgarh or Mau.

“Behenji may have stepped out later than others but she will ensure that all divisions are covered. With the use of social media, we will ensure that her message reaches all parts of the state,” said a party member.
