What a week it’s been for Bryson DeChambeau.
On his way to an Arnold Palmer Invitational win at Bay Hill, the muscular golfer hit two absolutely huge shots at No. 6, taking a risky line across the water twice and successfully pulling them off. What he’s doing right now is awesome, especially with the slate of majors coming up soon.
It was after the victory that DeChambeau revealed he had texted with Tiger Woods, who is recovering after a horrific car crash weeks ago.
“We just talked about, just keep fighting no matter what happens,” DeChambeau said. “Play boldly, like Mr. Palmer said. My heart has been heavy with Tiger and with what’s been going on with him, and I just kept telling myself, it’s not how many times you get kicked down, it’s about how many times you get picked back up and you keep going, and that’s what I surely did out there today.”

He addressed it later on as well. From Golfweek:
“When I got that text, I’m like, wow, that’s pretty amazing that he is thinking of me when he’s in his tough times that he’s going through right now,” DeChambeau said of Woods, who is recovering in a Los Angeles hospital following a horrific single-vehicle rollover crash that left him with serious, multiple injuries in his right leg, ankle and foot.
“So I just texted him, I said, ‘Keep moving forward, keep going forward. You’re going to get through it. You’re the hardest working person I’ve ever met and you’ll persevere through this pretty much.’ One of the things that we talked about was, it’s not about how many times you get kicked to the curb or knocked down. It’s about how many times you can get back up and keep moving forward.
“And I think this red cardigan is not only for Mr. Palmer, but I would say it’s a little bit for Tiger as well, knowing hat place he’s in right now.”
