The Rams didn’t have much of a home-field advantage at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, which wasn’t always packed to the brim and often featured fans of the opposing team. The Chargers dealt with the same thing at Dignity Health Sports Park for a few years, which consistently had more fans of the opponent than Chargers fans.
The Rams should have a better advantage at SoFi Stadium now that they’re in a state-of-the-art building, but if the preseason is any indication, that won’t be the case. Bryce Perkins told J.B. Long on the Rams Revealed podcast that their game against the Raiders felt like a road game.
He couldn’t hear anything on the final drive, which ended with a touchdown and failed two-point conversion.
“This past weekend was a lot of fun, too,” Perkins said. “We were at SoFi but it felt like an away game with how many Raiders fans were in there. That last stretch, couldn’t even hear anything. So even those hostile environments like that are also fun.”
Raiders fans always travel well, but it’s only the preseason so it’s somewhat concerning to hear Perkins talk about it feeling like a road game. Hopefully that changes in the regular season because a home-field advantage would help the Rams as they welcome fans at SoFi Stadium for the first time this year.
