Mitchell on the fight’s key moment
“The twister, I don’t know why in the hell his neck didn’t break. There’s a slight grip adjustment I’m going to make, but I don’t know why he didn’t tap on a twister. The thing is, it’s really tempting to give up position to go for one of those submissions, and I’ve done it all throughout my earlier career – and then you end up on bottom, and then you get hit, and then you have a big old black eye the next day. It’s not fun. It just came down to being really smart and patient and staying on top and not giving up position for some bull(expletive).”
Mitchell on not getting a finish
“I feel good. I really wanted a finish. That’s the only thing I regret – not getting that finish. I think if I was just a little bit stronger, did a little bit more weight-lifting this fight, I’d have put him out. I’m going to work at it and just get a little bit bigger. I’m a little bit smaller than I was last fight, but I didn’t like my weight cut (last time). I’ve just got to find a little bit of heavy balance.”
Mitchell on what he wants next
“I’m trying to get some corona(virus) in my system, build up that immunity – I ain’t worried about none of that. That stuff’s just going to make your immunity stronger. They’re probably going to try to test me for the vaccine, and I’m going to have to start charging y’all.”
