Bryce Harper keeps shutting up hecklers with colossal home runs

Bryce Harper is used to scrutiny at this point in his career, but he’s faced constant criticism from fans around the league this season – and even occasionally in Philadelphia – after signing a 13-year megadeal worth $330 million in the offseason.

Wherever Harper goes, on the road, he’s met with boos and calls that he’s “overrated” or overpaid. Over the last week, however, Harper’s had perfect responses at the plate.

In San Francisco on August 9th, Harper launched a go-ahead three-run blast into McCovey Cove in the seventh inning while a fan was chanting “overrated” during his at-bat. The blast was Harper’s second home run of the ballgame.

On Thursday night in Philadelphia, Harper opened the game 0-for-3, and with the Phillies trailing the Cubs, was called out by a fan as he returned to the dugout.

Later that night, Harper crushed a game-winning grand slam into the second deck to sweep Chicago, in what may be a very significant moment in the playoff race. The Phillies currently trail the Cubs by a game for the second Wild Card spot.

UPDATE: On Friday night against the Padres, Harper hit his seventh home run in the last nine games.
