Bryan Singer still directing Red Sonja reboot, despite new sexual assault allegations

The producers behind Bryan Singer’s next project have said they intend to keep the controversial director on, despite new allegations from four men who claim Singer sexually molested them while they were underage.

Millennium Films has said their decision to hire Singer to helm their upcoming reboot of Red Sonja.

“I continue to be in development for Red Sonja and Bryan Singer continues to be attached,” producer Avi Lerner told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement.

“The over $800 million Bohemian Rhapsody has grossed, making it the highest grossing drama in film history, is testament to his remarkable vision and acumen. I know the difference between agenda driven fake news and reality, and I am very comfortable with this decision. In America people are innocent until proven otherwise.”

Earlier this week, The Atlantic released a comprehensive article – which took one year to bring together – in which alleged victims claim they were either raped or seduced by Singer while they were underage. One such accuser, Victor Valdovinos, alleges that he was molested by Singer on the set of the film Apt Pupil when he was just 13.

Singer has denied all allegations against him. He released a statement following the article, reading: ”Again, I am forced to reiterate that this story rehashes claims from bogus lawsuits filed by a disreputable cast of individuals willing to lie for money or attention.

“And it is no surprise that, with Bohemian Rhapsody being an award-winning hit, this homophobic smear piece has been conveniently timed to take advantage of its success.”

Rami Malek, who played Freddie Mercuty in the Bohemian Rhapsody biopic, has recently spoken about working with Singer, saying he was not award of the allegations.
