Bryan Kohberger went about his day after brutally stabbing Idaho students – but made sure to hide his injured hand

Recently released security footage confirms that Bryan Kohberger conducted everyday activities in Clarkston, Washington, near Pullman, just hours after the brutal November 2022, stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho students in Moscow, Idaho.

The footage, obtained by investigative podcaster Gray Hughes and featured on NewsNation’s Banfield on September 26, 2025, shows Kohberger acting calm, cool, and collected while sipping a beverage. In one clip, Kohberger is seen attempting to enter a Costco in Clarkston but is refused entry because he didn’t have a membership card.

Notably, in the Costco clip, Kohberger keeps his left hand tucked into his pocket throughout the brief interaction, and analysts note he seemed to hide injuries to his left hand sustained during the murders. He also looks to be wearing the same clothing he wore in the post-shower selfie authorities released earlier, confirmed to have been taken hours after the Moscow attack.

Kohberger: calm, cool, collected

In addition to the Costco stop, authorities confirmed that Kohberger also visited an Albertsons grocery store nearby, where he made a small purchase at a self-checkout station. These were part of a series of stops Kohberger made in the area that afternoon while driving his now-infamous white Hyundai Elantra.

In a plea deal to avoid the death penalty, Kohberger pleaded guilty to four counts of first-degree murder in July 2025. He was subsequently sentenced to four consecutive life terms in prison without the possibility of parole, plus an additional ten years for burglary. The motive behind the killings remains unclear. Kohberger has not provided any public explanation for his actions.
