Bryan Gil shows the missing ingredient he can bring to Nuno Espirito Santo's Tottenham

Bryan Gil, one of Tottenham's summer signings, has made a positive start to his Spurs career after a promising performance in their second leg tie against Pacos de Ferreira on Thursday night.

The 20-year-old showed his potential inside the first ten minutes of the game as he got his first assist, Passing to Harry Kane, who slotted it into the back of the net.

He also showed some positive play with Ryan Sessegnon down the left-hand side of the pitch which aided Tottenham's attacking force. The Spanish international was always looking for space to help Tottenham increase their lead.

His aim to create chances didn't stop in the second quarter of the game as he received the ball back from Kane, carried it into the box and tried to find Lucas Moura. The chance ended up in the hands of Pacos goalkeeper, Andre Ferreira, but it was the kind of moment that showed exactly what he can bring to Nuno Espirito Santo's side.

The former Eibar player also helped in the build-up of Spurs' second goal, with a pass to Kane, who had a long shot before the scuffle in the box, prior to the finish.

His high-energy game was evident throughout.

Despite getting a yellow card as the second half got underway, he continued to find space to receive the ball.

He came close to finding the back of the net when his shot went just wide of the goal following a through ball from Giovani Lo Celso, before Gil made way for Steven Bergwijn in the 72nd minute. The winger received a good reception from the home fans as he left the pitch.

In Espirito Santo's post-match press conference, he also praised Gil's midfield performance, alongside Harry Winks and Giovani Lo Celso.

"Energy, this is what we wanted and we had it," he said. "I think they controlled the middle of the pitch."

Gil will inevitably want to get some more minutes under his belt and secure his place in the Spurs team moving forward.

Espirito Santo did also explain that there is still room for improvement, for the young player.

"Every time he goes to the final third of the pitch, he's a player who needs to improve on his decision making, but we're here to support him," the Spurs boss said.

Tottenham's next game is at home to Watford on Sunday and after showing what he is capable of, it is now on Espirito Santo to decide if he will let him loose against Premier League opposition.
