A vile thug repeatedly punched and kicked a neighbour’s dog after grabbing the animal during a dispute over loud music being played at 5.30am.
Mark Robertson struck the pet in the head in Tranent, East Lothian, after becoming enraged about complaints over noise.
Police were called to the scene of the sickening incident and detained the 40-year-old.
Robertson told one of the officers: “You have a face that looks like a shaved dog’s a***.”
He appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday and pled guilty to attacking the dog.
Robertson also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, shouting, swearing, uttering threats of violence, and challenging a man to fight.
Fiscal depute Lynsay Magro said two neighbours, a man and woman, were awoken by loud music coming from Robertson’s address.
Ms Magro said the male neighbour shouted from his window at Angela Reid, Robertson’s former co-accused, to complain.
She said: “Ms Reid reacted angrily, saying “You f****g idiot” and “F*** you”.”
The court heard Robertson then came out his home and shouted at the neighbour, telling him: “Come down and f*****g fight then.”
A neighbour’s dog ran into the garden during the disturbance, Ms Magro said.
She added: “The accused proceeded to grab the dog and kicked and punched it to the head.”
The court was told the female neighbour ran out and rescued the animal, taking it inside, and the police were called.
Robertson was arrested and taken to Dalkeith police station following the incident on December 13 last year.
Reid, 45, had faced a charge of threatening or abusive behaviour but her not guilty plea was accepted by the Crown and she walked free from court.
Defence agent Katie Bell, acting for Robertson, said it was “not a pleasant matter” but happened over a short period of time.
Sheriff Alistair Noble deferred sentence on Robertson, of Tranent, for reports until next month.
The sheriff noted Robertson didn’t have a “good record” and “custody was still an option”.
