Police have released CCTV images of three men suspected of bashing another man in the face with a metal weapon in an alleged racist attack.

The violent assault took place on July 25 in Shoreditch, when the 34-year-old victim left a food and drinks venue in Brick Lane about 3.30am.

It was then that he was attacked with a “metal object”, police say, and racist language was used towards him during the assault.

The men had been prowling the streets trying to start fights, according to the Met.

The victim had to have reconstructive surgery on his face following the incident.

Detective Constable Caelen Matthewson-Davies, said: “This was an unprovoked attack on an innocent victim who was enjoying a night out in Shoreditch.

“The victim suffered severe facial injuries and has had reconstructive surgery. He is also seriously emotionally traumatised and has been having panic attacks.

“Luckily the entire attack is captured on CCTV and we are appealing for the public's help to trace the men pictured.

“If you recognise them, witnessed the incident or have any further information, please don't hesitate to contact police.”

He added: “We stand against all incidents of racism and urge anyone impacted by crimes of this nature to urgently call the police.”
