Brutal Bake Off double elimination infuriates fans as Helena and Michelle are kicked out of tent

Bake Off fans were devastated as both Helena and Michelle were sent home in a brutal double elimination.

The pair failed to rise to the challenge during Roaring Twenties Week, during which the bakers had to create shortcrust pastries, beignet souffles and prohibition era-inspired cakes.

This is despite fellow baker Rosie struggling with all three bakes.

Fans were utterly heartbroken to see two of their favourites sent home.

One tweeted: "EXCUSE ME WHAT THE HECK #GBBO."

While another commented: "HELENA ⚰️ WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU #gbbo."

A third remarked: "I really don’t want to be rude but, why on earth did Paul and Prue save Priya AGAIN?? #GBBO."

The pressure mounted for the bakers earlier when they were tasked with creating 1920s themed custard tarts and Rosie opted to bake blackberry pies.

But the pressure mounted when host Noel Fielding announced there was just 10 minutes to go, and they all rushed to get ready.

In the middle of the chaos Rosie picked up her tarts ready for decorating and dropped one on the floor, with the custard going everywhere.

Rosie could only let out an "Oh!" as she stared blankly at the floor.

Henry tried to salvage the tart by picking it up from the floor but it was no good, with Rosie saying: "Don't bother, mate."

She started crying as she started to panic, fretting: "I'm going home."

Luckily judges Prue Leith and Paul Holywood were quite complimentary.

Prue called her decoration "absolutely exquisite", but criticised the texture of the pastry.

The mishaps left Bake Off on Twitter on the edges of their seats.

One tweeted: "If I was Rosie I'd have scooped that tart straight up off the floor and served it to Paul. 5 second rule."

Viewers felt sorry for Rosie (Channel 4)

"Poor Rosie. Totally felt for her there," another posted.

A third said: "Rosie handled that waaaaay better than I would have done. I would have full on had a strop and just burst into tears."

"OMG when Rosie’s tart fell, feel so sorry for her," another agreed.
