Brussels sprouts flavoured gin has just gone on sale - made with real vegetables

The alcohol that nobody asked for has just gone on sale: Brussels sprouts flavour gin.

Unsurprisingly a world first, the unusual gin has just gone on sale, made by Edinburgh-based Pickering’s Gin.

But rather than getting its controversial flavour from synthetic syrups, the festive gin has been created using a whopping 10,000 brussels sprouts - enough for 2,000 Christmas dinners.

Concocted at the Pickering brand's Summerhall Distillery, the brand described the flavour as “a surprisingly sweet, slightly nutty taste with a green, herbaceous and peppery twang.”

Matt Gammell, head distiller and co-founder of the gin company said: “It was an interesting challenge trying to balance the unmistakable flavour of Brussels sprouts to get the taste just right – and the distillery had a very distinct aroma while the gin was being distilled.

"However, we love the end result and it is the ideal tipple for friends and family to share together this Christmas."

Sadly (for some), it seems as if you can't pick up an entire bottle of the stuff just yet, with the Brussels sprout infused gin launching as part of a limited edition six pack of Christmas gin baubles, and costing you £25 for the set.

As well as the brussels sprouts flavour gin, other intriguing flavours in Pickering’s Gin baubles set include equally as festive flavours, such as Christmas Clementine, Festive Cranberry, Spiced Pear and Cinnamon, Figgy Pudding, Plum and Ginger.
