Adele condemns Brussels attackers in powerful message of solidarity

Adele paid a powerful tribute to Brussels with a defiant message for the attackers who killed at least 31 and injured 250 more in three blasts.

In a performance at London's O2 arena, the singer addressed the devastating explosions in the Belgian capital by urging the world to stand together in a show of solidarity.

“When I woke up and heard the terrible news about Brussels, I felt bit bad and sad about the fact that I was going to be doing the show," she said. "But I’m really glad we are all here, and we are all going to make enough noise so they can hear us from here.

“I'm hoping you've all come to be entertained by me. I'm here to entertain you, so we're all united, so that makes us much better than them f**kers. You're on your own, you f**king loners!”

Adele also dedicated one of her songs to the city, telling the crowd: “This is ‘Make You Feel My Love, and this is for Brussels.”

The world was reeling from the suicide bombings at Brussels Airport and an explosion at a metro station in the Belgian capital on Tuesday. Sombre front pages of newspapers across the world condemned the bloodshed and mourned the victims, with this newspaper describing the devastating events as “darkness in the heart of Europe”.

Three days of mourning begin in Brussels today and a minute’s silence will be held for victims at 11am GMT.

The two suicide bombers have been named in Belgian media as Khalid and Brahim el-Bakraoui. The RTBF broadcaster says the brothers were known to police.
