Brussels Airport attack: Woman pictured in aftermath of bombing identified

The woman photographed in the aftermath of the attacks at Brussels Airport has been identified.

Nidhi Chaphekar, 45, is a flight attendant for Indian airline Jet Airways. She is now recovering in hospital.

A photo of the mother-of-two taken after the attacks shows her face covered in blood and dust, with her uniform ripped apart by the blast.

On the seat next to hear, another woman makes a phone call, her hand covered in blood.

Ms Chaphekar was due to take a flight to Newark, in the US, when she was caught in the bombings. 

Her colleague Amit Motwani was also injured in the attacks, suffering a slight injury to his eye.

Over 30 people were killed and more than 200 injured a series of bomb attacks at Brussels Airport and Maalbeek Metro station. 

Shortly before 8am on Tuesday, two explosions killed 11 people at the airport in Brussels Zaventem Airport.

The airport has been closed since the attacks and will remain so on Thursday, CEO Arnauld Feist said.
