Brussels Airlines is relaunching its flight route from Bristol to Belgium's capital.
Travellers used to be able to fly to Brussels from Bristol Airport with Flybmi, which operated on behalf of Brussels Airlines, but the route was stopped in February when Flybmi collapsed.
But Brussels Airlines is now planning to relaunch the route in partnership with CityJet on September 1.
CityJet will fly from Bristol to Brussels six times a week until October 27, after which it increase the number of flights to 12 a week (two flights daily from Bristol).
Bristol Airport’s business development director Nigel Scott says the relaunch of the Bristol route responds to demand in the region and the "need to operate a service between these two key cities".
He said: “We are delighted Brussels Airlines will be returning to Bristol Airport. The service will appeal to passengers whether travelling for business or leisure.
"It offers opportunities for inbound visitors using Bristol as a gateway to the region. With frequent travel connections, inbound tourists will be able to experience the vibrant cities of Bristol and Bath, and the host of iconic tourist attractions and beautiful coastline we have in the region."
Andreas Koester, senior director at Lufthansa Group, added: “The new connection between Bristol and Brussels is an important expansion to the Lufthansa Group network in the UK, where we offer flights to the European mainland out of 12 different airports.
“Brussels Airlines offers point-to-point passengers a flexible schedule and create a broad range of possibilities for passengers connecting to one of the many other destinations in our network.”
The route is one of a number of new destinations people can fly to from Bristol. Budget airline easyJet has announced six new routes from Bristol Airport in recent weeks, and Ryanair also announced a new ski route to Grenoble.
