Bruno Guimaraes shares Newcastle update which will delight Eddie Howe and excite fans

Bruno Guimaraes is set to return from international duty with Brazil and has expressed his delight ahead of getting to work with Newcastle United.

The Magpies sealed a move for the highly-rated Lyon playmaker on Sunday in a structured deal which could potentially make the 24-year-old the club's record signing.

Guimaraes signed a four-and-a-half year deal at St James' Park, and Eddie Howe confirmed the midfielder was one of United's 'primary targets' in the January window.

The former Ligue 1 star completed his medical in Brazil, and went on to register an assist as a substitute in a 4-0 victory for Tite's side over Miguel Almiron's Paraguay on Wednesday.

Guimaraes is now en route to link up with his Newcastle United team-mates and fellow January signings Dan Burn, Matt Targett, Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood.

The defensive midfielder shared an update on social media indicating he was Tyneside bound, and it was a post which inevitably was met with delight by supporters.

One fan wrote: "Welcome to the Toon Bruno. Please be ready to play against Everton."

Another supporter commented: "I hope you are prepared for a fan base that will ADORE you, cannot wait to see you at this club mate. Safe travels."
