Bruno Guimaraes reflects on 'best decision' and outlines dream to make history with Newcastle

Bruno Guimaraes has described signing for Newcastle United as 'one of the best decisions of my life' on the first anniversary of his arrival. The Brazil international arrived from Lyon on January 30 last year, and quickly established himself as a firm fans' favourite.

Eddie Howe introduced Guimaraes slowly into the starting eleven during the battle for survival, but the 25-year-old's performances soon made the January signing one of the first names on the teamsheet. The midfielder has already netted nine goals and registered four assists during his brief stint in black-and-white so far.

Guimaraes has often spoke of his pride in both the club and the city since joining, and declared upon signing that his intention was to play Champions League football at St James' Park. One year on from becoming a Newcastle player, the former Lyon playmaker has taken to social media to thank the Toon Army for their support on the journey so far.

He posted: "1 year of one of the best decisions of my life. Thanks to the club and fans for welcoming me and giving me everything I need to play at my best level.

"I hope to be able to live more years and write a history of achievements. We follow together."

One fan replied: "So glad you came to NUFC, you bring so much to the club on and off the field. Thank you."

Another commented: "Thank you for all of these incredible moments you’ve given us. It means so much."
