Bruno Fernandes 'worth almost double' Mohamed Salah but Liverpool have £95m player

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been calculated as Liverpool's most valuable asset - with Mohamed Salah barely half the worth of Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

Boffins at the CIES Football Observatory have once again applied science to the beautiful game in their biannual list of which players in Europe's top five leagues have the estimated highest transfer value.

Among the factors considered in determining the most expensive players are age, length of contract, experience and their contribution on the pitch in recent seasons.

And Alexander-Arnold is ranked the highest Liverpool player in the top 100 in 13th place at £94.25million.

Only five other Reds make the list, with Diogo Jota next on £66.5m, Salah valued at £55.25m, Curtis Jones £54.65m, Alisson Becker £48m and Andy Robertson £42m.

Manchester United have three of the top 12, with Mason Greenwood their highest-placed player in fourth with a value of £111.9m ahead of Jadon Sancho in 11th (£96.1m) and Fernandes 12th (£95.2m).

Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior - who scored twice against Liverpool in the Champions League last season - is ranked the most expensive player in Europe at £139m.

Manchester City's Phil Foden comes next on £127.5m and then Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland on £119.1m.
