Bruno Fernandes' treatment of his first club Novara sums up kind of person he is

Bruno Fernandes "always makes himself available" to his first club Novara should they need him to fulfil an ambassadorial role.

That's according to the Italian club's former head of youth development, Mauro Borghetti, who together with Javier Ribalta scouted Fernandes at Boavista in 2012 before Novara signed him for a measly £35,000.

Manchester United midfielder Fernandes spent just one season at Novara where he impressed enough to earn himself a £4.5million move to Udinese - the biggest fee his first club has ever received.

Borghetti remembers a determined young man who had a great personality, which distinguished him among his peers.

Borghetti explains that this trait is still very much present in Fernandes, despite the success and celebrity he's experienced in the years since leaving the club.

And Borghetti adds that the Portuguese always makes himself available to Novara whenever the club calls on him to send messages of encouragement to youth players.

"I sometimes write to him to ask if he can send some messages for the guys who play here at Novarello and he is always available," Borghetti told Football Italia.

"Sometimes I text him after a goal or a good performance."

When asked if there is something he would say to Fernandes today, if given the opportunity, he responded: "Today, I would tell him to always keep that humility that has always distinguished him.

"He hasn't changed and he shows it every time he makes himself available to me and to other people who knew him at the time of Novarello. That's what has made him a great champion."
