Bruno Fernandes told how he is like Kevin De Bruyne after Manchester United brace vs Real Sociedad

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves drew comparisons between Bruno Fernandes and Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne following the Reds' win against Real Sociedad.

The 26-year-old Fernandes led the way once again last night as he scored a decisive double during United's superb 4-0 victory in Turin.

With further strikes coming from Marcus Rashford and Daniel James, Fernandes and co already have one foot in the last-16 of the Europa League ahead of the return leg next Thursday.

Just over 12 months on from his arrival, the Portuguese has already totted up 33 goals in all competitions, adding 18 assists and four Premier League player of the month awards.

Speaking after United's European win, Hargreaves said: "(Fernandes is) a bit like Kevin De Bruyne in the sense that in those key moments, he doesn't rush, he waits and takes a bit of extra care.

"In terms of finishing and playing that final pass - that's important. A lot of kids are trying to rush it because they're excited they're in there, but Bruno takes his time. His impact has been off the charts, every time he plays, he creates and scores, I can't get over how important a player he is."

Hargreaves was joined on punditry duty by former United teammate Paul Scholes, who also sung Fernandes' praises.

Scholes said: "He's been sensational ever since he signed, really, he makes the team play football. You have to say, every time you see him play, he affects the game, which someone in that position should be doing. With the quality he's got, you feel like he's going to score and make goals. He's been a terrific signing."
