Bruno Fernandes to Manchester United transfer latest as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer closes in on deal

Bruno Fernandes is close to becoming a Manchester United player after a breakthrough in negotiations.

The Old Trafford club are understood to be close to agreeing a fee for the midfielder and will pay around £46.6m in an initial fee.

That will also include add-ons of £8.5m and United believe there was a significant movement today.

The deal will see Fernandes become United's first signing of the January window and adds much needed creativity to the Premier League side.

The 25-year-old has been in incredible form for Sporting since moving to the club in 2017 from Sampdoria.

United have midfield issues with Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay ruled out with long-term injuries.

But Fernandes adds goals to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team, with 33 goals scored last season.

He's already netted 15 goals in 28 games this campaign.

He started his career at Novara before three years at Udinese and a season at Sampdoria.
