Bruno Fernandes to Manchester United: Latest transfer reports from Portugal

The Bruno Fernandes to Manchester United reports returned with a vengeance over the weekend and just as was the case in the summer the speculation is being fuelled by the Portuguese press.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to strengthen his squad before the close of the window at the end of the month and the Portugal international is a player who United did monitor in the summer and nearly five months after club sources expressed their 'irritation' at planted stories in the Portuguese media.

United did not approach Sporting with an offer for Fernandes in the summer but could go ahead with a deal before the January 31 deadline.

The MEN understands United regard the £50million rated Fernandes as an appealing mid-season addition following injuries to midfielders Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba.

Here's a look at how the Portuguese media are reporting the interest and their view on where a potential deal is up to.

Record claim the main terms of the agreement between the two clubs have already been negotiated and Sporting are expecting an official proposal from United this week. They report that the deal will be worth €60million with an additional €10million in add ons which could include United defender Marcos Rojo.

The 29-year-old has already been preparing for a possible transfer this month after he was granted time off by the club ahead of a potential move.

The centre-back has recovered from injury but has yet to feature again for Solskjaer's side and the Norwegian also now has Eric Bailly available again after he made his return from injury for the under-23s on Friday night.

Record aren't the only Portuguese outlet to mention Rojo on Monday morning. O Jogo report Sporting want the 29-year-old as part of the deal but are reportedly concerned over his high wages and there's a suggestion United will be asked to cover part of his salary.

They add that if a move for Rojo fails they will ask for another player in order to take the deal up to around €70m. The details they give of Fernandes's reported deal is that he will be offered a five-and-a-half year contract earning around €4-5million a year.

And finally A Bola reported that a deal is 'imminent' and could be signed off on either Monday or Tuesday. The €60million plus €10million in add-ons is used again and they claim talks are set to conclude in the coming hours.
