Bruno Fernandes telling Man Utd team-mates to be "mad" says a lot about him

Bruno Fernandes said his Manchester United team-mates should have been "mad" following Sunday's draw with Everton.

And his comments say a lot about the type of player the Red Devils have on their books.

Manchester United fans have complained of a lack of commitment and intensity since the days of the all-conquering Sir Alex Ferguson.

Back then the Red Devils had players like Roy Keane and Gary Neville, who gave everything for the badge.

These days certain individuals go missing when they're most needed, and, as a result, Man United's sparkle has dulled.

Fernandes was signed in the January transfer window; tasked with boosting the Red Devils' push for a top-four finish.

Swapping clubs mid-campaign is always difficult, but Fernandes has shown his quality from the first moment he pulled on the United strip.

He's quickly becoming one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's most important players with his ability on the pitch.

Fernandes is intelligent, creative and direct - he runs at players and has scored in each of United's past three fixtures.

But it's not just his ability with a ball at his feet that sets him apart from his team-mates - it's the midfielder's attitude that makes him so special.

A draw away at Everton isn't a disastrous result whichever way you look at it, but Fernandes wasn't impressed.

Following the match, he told his team-mates they should be "mad" that they didn't win the match as it has hampered their chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

"With this draw, we need to be a little bit mad, because we need to do much better," the Portuguese told reporters.

"We need to win the games, because we want a place in the Champions League. So we need to try more, to improve more, and I think in the next games we will be much better."

Fernandes' attitude is a breath of fresh air at Manchester United, and he appears to be the type of player the Red Devils have been crying out for since Ferguson departed.
