Manchester United must take full advantage of their final audition before getting down to business in the Premier League this season.
That's the message from Bruno Fernandes as the Portuguese sensation and his United teammates prepare to meet Everton on Saturday afternoon (12.45pm).
Due to Euro 2020 and further complications brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, structure and consistency has proved hard to come by for United this summer - with their crunch opener against bitter rivals Leeds United a matter of days away now.
However, there are other clubs in the same situation as Fernandes and co.
Similarly to his fellow United players who took part in international competitions this summer, the 26-year-old has only just returned to pre-season training with the club.
Of course, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his squad continue to put in those hard yards north of the border.
However, the clock is ticking for United to fine-tune their plans as they continue to chase Manchester City and win a first Premier League title since 2013.
Speaking to the official MUFC website, Fernandes said: "The standard of Everton is really high.
"After that, there is one week before we start. It will be good to have a last test against a Premier League club with high standards and really good, quality players."
Fernandes added: "With this game, it's about performing well and getting some minutes in the legs.
"We want to win the game, but the result will not be the most important thing. At the same time, though, we want to win."
